Life Changes

It has been quite some time since the last post I've made on this blog.  What can I say?  Life has been a crazy mess. I moved to teaching first grade last year to teaching third grade this year.  I started, then stopped, then started the process again to teach for VIPKID.  Ryker, my one-year-old, in now walking, running, climbing, and causing complete chaos around the house.  Brodie, my three-year-old, is potty training with an attitude too big for his tiny body.  We decided to buy a Rainbow machine and are doing the demo program to earn ours for free.  Finally, I have decided that by this time next year, I will have us mostly debt-free and in the process of our property becoming a homestead. A lot, right? So, about my teaching career.  First grade was great, but it did not come without struggle.  When I taught first grade, I taught absolutely everything under the sun.  I taught the normal reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.  I also taught social skills, sp

Cleaning House

I adore the way a clean house smells.  Lemon-scented cleaner is my all-time favorite!  I love the smell of fresh laundry, a mopped floor, and a sanitized bathroom.  I love seeing a counter that has very few things on it.  I love seeing a bed made and a dresser with nothing on it but a lamp or jewelry box.  I love the fluffiness of freshly vacuumed carpet and the way a sink sparkles when it's been completely scrubbed.  I love empty dishwashers, organized refrigerators, uncluttered desks...  Everything about a clean house I absolutely  love .  There is one problem, though.  I am one of the laziest people when it comes to cleaning.  I literally despise cleaning. Don't get me wrong... I  do  clean my house.  My house is not some giant germ that people shy away from.  My floors are swept, my family wears clean clothes, we bathe in a clean shower and tub, we eat off of clean dishes, etc.  I just literally  can't stand cleaning.   I will do so many other things to avoi

Our Home

Image
My family just moved across two states to move into our new home three months ago.  This is our first time owning a home, as we have rented only in the past.  This is a  whole  new experience for us!  Gone are the days that we call our landlord about our A/C unit not working or that our front door has a catch.  Gone are the days where we were blissfully not paying insurance or escrow.   Gone are the days where we knew we weren't staying . Owning a home is tough.  You have to invest in a home warranty so you're not totally on the hook for appliance repair and replacement.  You have to get the bug guy to come spray or do it yourself.  You have to take that front door off of its hinges to sand it down in that one spot because the  humidity is so high it has warped.   Everything that goes wrong with your new home...you're now on the hook for.  Whether it be replacing the lights on your 12 ft ceilings (when you don't even own a ladder) or getting the septic tank treated, i

Why Try Blogging Now?

Well, there it is.  The big question. There are so many blogs out there right now... Most have big dreams to pull in some major mula and only some actually do.  But those are loud blogs, right?  Those that say "It's so easy!  You can make six figures, too!" I mean, who doesn't want to be able to sit at home in their PJ's, flipping through Netflix, all while blogging about life hacks and budgeting tools?  It does sound amazing, doesn't it? I've done some research.  It can be done, but it seems to take a while to get the mojo flowing.  You need to have tons of traffic, interesting content, and a good bit of creativity.  After a time of establishment, you can add on AdSense or something similar so that you can pull in a tiny percentage of whatever the company makes when your readers click the ads on your blog.  It also helps to get sponsors, marketing affiliates, and participate in giveaways! Basically, it's a lot of work upfront.  Not impossible,
